Coney Island Rockabilly Festival

It's the Coney Island Rockabilly Festival this weekend which includes four of my greatest loves - rockabilly, fairgrounds, pin-ups and...um...clowns. My ideal of course being a rockabilly clown with a pin-up figure who works in a fairground at weekends.......

Anyway, what has Coney Island got to offer this year - apart from Miss Coney Island Pin-up of course? Here are some previous winners:





The first is Julia Atlas Muz and the second is Amelia Danger

And then, there's last year's winner - Gigi LaFemme - she's the one second from the right in the photo - a bit different to all the rest:



Well, apart from the eagerly-awaited Miss Pin-Up and accompanying burlesque show, there's music of course - dozens of bands all over the park - but including the Memphis Morticians, Matty B & The Dirty Pickles, Electroluxx, The Krank Dandies, Johnny Valhalla & Nordic Rhine Warriors, Elsa Cross, Viva Le Vox and Guitar Bomb

There's the famous burlesque show and the mermaid parade. There will be scary fire-eaters and flame tattoos. Sword-swallowers will thrill you to the core and strongmen in leotards will take your breath away.

There's the Squidlings Bros Circus Sideshow and a special showing of cult movie "The Wrestler"

Holy hot dogs and hula-hoops, Batman, there's nothing quite like walking on the wild side for a while and if that's your scene, Coney Island's the place for you this weekend - dig it!
