wintersun whos going

I saw that on the Wintersun website Hewey, so i guess you could say it's fair dink.

I'm pretty sure the reason they're wanting to move around is because if coolangatta was a person, they are being a complete dick. Not only has the council pulled out of funding but so has many of the businesses that profit from Wintersun. By now they've figured 'Well, gee the crowds come with their money every year, why should we pay organizers anymore? It's all a given'. So a lot of them are pretty much being greedy jerks. I heard that not even Twin Towns is contributing this year. They're pretty much happy to sit back and let the patrons just pay their ridiculous inflated accommodation rates.

So! I can see why they're wanting to move it every year. Then the situation that has happened in Coolangatta can't happen again. Maybe they're hoping towns will 'bid' for Wintersun now so that they can get the funding they need?

Some of the businesses are apparently really funny about Wintersun. A lady at dancing was telling me about a dressmaker/alterations lady that would have nothing to do with anyone who was a part of Wintersun or looked remotely rock n roll/rockabilly. The dressmaker turned her away (she wanted pants hemmed up) because of this silly attitude. Which is beyond me because it sounds like the dressmaker is just throwing money away o_o

Wintersun was created to bring tourism (money/business) to Coolangatta in it's slowest period.... winter! Many of the businesses of Coolangatta have used it and abused it. Now it's leaving. I bet that wiped the smug look off of their faces.

That pretty much sums it up Biscuit. On the one hand buisnesses are quite willing to profit from the festival but ten seconds later they're complaining about the number of people and not being able to get a park. Get over it you whingers it's two days that the streets are closed and you have a bit of minor inconvenience, for an event that would bring millions of dollars of revenue into the region. People are so pathetic, as soon as it's gone they'll all be screaming to have it back.

Same situation is happening with the Bright Rod Run too. More so in Bright, many of the local businesses know they have a 'captive audience' (who's going to drive to the next town to buy some booze?) and bump up the prices Im sure there's plenty of towns who'd love a run like Wintersun or Bright Rod Run come to town. And anyone at the main street cruise on Saturday night at the Goulburn nats know how awesome it is when thousands of locals turn out on a rainy night to check out a cruise. Hopefully with Wintersun going regional, it'll show the businesses who are being tools they're not just bluffing when it comes to changing locations.

I found out the other day, that business's have to pay $200. to be put in the wintersun 'supporters poster list' you know the shops that go all out and put records in the windows and fake elvis's and my good old friend at retro sheila said no im not giving 200 away (because he shuts up shop because noone goes into buy stuff, they just want to look at the retro gear and it gets damaged..like a museum) and then in the little handout book it says dont shop at the business's that haven't supported wintersun..thats not going to stop people!!!

I'm goin down on the Saturday, gotta be back home for work at 1:00am Sunday (at this stage anyhows) We have parked the family truckster in the Kirra Surf Club car park for the last couple of years. Anyone know if we can park there again this year or if the parade will stop us?

Any suggestions as where we can park all day otherwise, I don't know my way around real well down thata way so a street name or somthin would be good.

Jester just cruise around all the near by streets.. it's always pretty packed so you may have to park a fair few blocks away and walk to the main centre of Wintersun - that's usually what happens to me But yeah no particular place to park, you just need to cruise around all the side streets and look for a spot.

Just get an old cruizer ,pay the entry fee and you can park right in the main street all weekend
