Hey Mate Whitehall is all u will need considering all u will be doing is sleeping there. But its not a good place to leave your car over night.
If u need sum where else to leave it let me know.

Re: wintersun 2010
i will keep it in mind shippy, how far are you from there, i have a pretty flash security set up and a room with a view to where i park it and quick accses to the street, we are staying with some other people and chose rooms facing the street so we can check on the cars through the night.
I was paranoid last year thinking i had the only car outside but then when i went for breakfast at pancakes on paradise on the last day i saw cars parked everywhere in the street.
I think its a good idea but to keep in mind that with the large number of exotic classics there have been some expensive cars stolen from wintersun and wintersun is a target for car thieves, it seems to happen every year now, even from secure parking.
trackers, paging alarms, cameras etc can help as well as random checks through the night. also if anyone looks suss around a car, pushing a car, towing a car, loading a car onto a trailer or tilt tray get your phone out and video them, pretend you like that car and want it on video, its quite normal to video a car at wintersun, even in the night. I bet there are alot of people now who would love to see a car thief caught at wintersun.

Re: wintersun 2010
huh?
What the F*** are they thinking? I know they had issues at the gold coast? But port Macquarie thats insane!!!
There is f*** all accomodation in port macquarie, compared to GC and surrounding areas!!
In 5 minutes i managed to find out that every bit of accomodation has been booked solid for that period! And i bet half the people don't even realise that they have moved the event!
Good work organisers, way to pander to the NSW Govt and stuff a once awesome event. I'll be spending my hard earned else where.

Re: wintersun 2010
I guess it had to happen before GCCC killed it to nothing, this year they want more police, less noise from bands, more traffic controllers, compensation for busses cought in traffic etc.
hotels are making uptp $3500 per room in off peak season and do nothing to contribute to the festival that makes them all the money.

Re: wintersun 2010
i find the reports of $3500 per room a little exaggerated, considering there i still accomodation available in the goldie... i checked..
And you dont think the same wont happen in Port.
I received three different emails from acomodation options in PM for june next year and all three responses were that "we are happy to take yr booking but we havent yet finalised what the rates will be due to the high demand expected". Expect the rates to be considerably more than their current off season rates.

Re: wintersun 2010
maybe i will skip both in 2011 and go to greazefest instead.
and yeah, my mate shared a room with a couple of others last year for $3500 but his brother has a unit this year up in burleigh heads on the beach for $690 a week.
you can get cheap accom up there but its hard to find it on the net, the place i stay doesnt have a website.
if the hotels try to charge you extra for a room in PM tell them to get f*(ked, i always lose it in those kind of phone calls.

Re: wintersun 2010
We are all booked and ready to go, can't wait, Cars not quite finished so not in the show n shine but will be taking her down. We found a two bedroom unit in Coolangatta on the esplanade for about $450per night. not cheap but a bit less than what's being mentioned here. Looks like PM could be a bit of a disaster???
Re: wintersun 2010
We cant wait, i have my motor out at the moment but we are still way ahead of this time last year when the car had no glass or interior, was so damn keen i went 4 nights without sleep putting the car together living on coffee, no doze and V drinks till i arrived with a driving car at coolangatta.
on arrival i was too excited to go to bed, my missus and kids went to bed, i cleaned up the car and did laps for about 4 hours then sat down for dinner in a club at a table wich happened to be next to a table pauline hanson was eating at and I fell asleep with my face in a plate of bangas and mash, got back to my room and went straight to sleep.

Re: wintersun 2010
Seven Hills in sydney, its not a bad trip from here, we do it over night wich eliminates any traffic and need to stop for accomadation and makes the stop at the big banana in coffs cheaper than if we stopped there in the day with the kids.mercurymark wrote:I'm with you FC, countin down the days.
