anz bank..random random random

So...i got a debit card in the mail, i switched from bank of queensland to anz.
BOQ SUCK!

It came with a sticker on the card 'call anz to confirm you got this'
so i called the 1800 number
after 20 minutes of hearing every 10 seconds 'we appreciate your patients, we will be with you shortly'

i didnt have any patience. haha

a Young girl 'alice' answered..sounded a little foreign..not sure where from..

But my goodness, is the new thing for banks to do..ask EVERYTHING. and be overly nice!???

she asked..how my day was, did i have a good weekend, what have i got planned for the rest of the day.

then..they had to run me through some questions about where i live, my phone numbers, my partners phone number incase of emergency (what am i going to die in the bank? so they have to call him)

my answer: ahh sure?
her reply: thats so nice of you!! thankyou!!! 'kate' eheheh

Do you still live with your parents??
my answer: yep
her reply: OH REALLLY well isnt that fabulous! WOW

What do you do as a job??
my answer: retail sales assistant and i own my own business
her reply: WOW!! what do you sell!! omg whats your business, that sounds amazing, i could chat to you all day kate about jewellery, but im sure you have better things to do with your time!!!!!

im thinking..
well yeh..i do have better things to do..like make the jewellery..and. all i really wanted to do was confirm i got the card in the mail..

and now i have to wait 5 more days, before i can use it, because i haven't got a pin for it?

anz is sufficient and completly professional
boq is hopeless in all forms

and yes..it was the anz department..not a scam..

Back in byron..the people in the bank knew your name, your account number and it was easy
Im starting to not like the city, oh how i miss my little country town!

cause back in byron the bank tellers were also the dealers

I just switched from St. George to Heritage and I love it.
No account keeping fees and as many accounts as I want. And the branch is directly across from my old St. George one *dances* You only get 3 free non heritage eftpos/atm transactions a month. But it's good though because it's really making me be more responsible with my money and spending.

I agree with you though, the city is wearing me down. I can't wait for the day when I have a little hobby farm in the country where I can grow organic veges, having hens laying eggs, a working compost and a nice queenslander!
Mmmmmmm! Isn't weird to think most people our age just look forward to getting drunk every weekend.

i only just came across this post.

i went to the commonwealth city branch for a debit card and when i was done they walked me out and opened the door for me. i thought it was weird considering there was a huge automatic door right next to the door they had opened...

Ha really. how strange..

Im thinking of joining the bank drea mentioned.
because they have no fees
i found out anz have been charging me a fair bit each month
and im a student, so they shouldn't

I love ANZ - they have called me 3 times since I bought my car to see how it's going & whether any problems have arisen & do I need help with repayments by stretching the loan over another 6 months bla bla.

In regards to Queenslanders.. Dean & I want to buy a piece of land, then buy an old house & move it to the block.. then start working on it
It's dandy that he can build things & I love to paint & garden.

Ive just got an ANZ debit card, easy as to set up. Got all the stuff in the mail (they sent out like 3 or 4 seperate letters, typical banks!). Went into tha bank to verify my identity (no waiting, straight in, and at lunch time no less). She even did the phone confirmation for me. Done! Took like 5 minutes. Just set it up for internet banking, again straight onto a person, all sorted in a couple minutes

Yeh, living in the city aint all that crash hot. Thats why I live in the outer burbs, and gorgeous national park is only 15 minutes up the road and awesome gigs just an hour the other direction
