I own a custom! ... Lowrider :)
Here are a few pics of my latest project... I can't afford to touch cars yet. But I loooove bikes!
It's made from 3 different bikes that we pulled apart & took the best bits out..
The handles make her about 5" high & I'd say about 2 1/2 metres long maybe. So it's heavy as well.
As you can see, there is a bit of surface rust that is being stubborn.. just have to get that blasted off & then she'll be in for a re-spray. We're going with a matt-black all over with a little bit of airbrushing.
It's really handy having a good friend that works as a trimmer
Unfortunatly, she is too big for me so I can ride her for a bit.. but then fall off. So she's really Deans bike - I just do the work!
I'm hoping to have her finished by Garter Belts.
I also have an old late 60's Speedwell that is being done.. she needs a lot more work & I'm trying to find some new 27" wheels if anyone has a spare set around *fingers crossed*
... Just thought I'd share.
Anyone else do up bikes?

Hey Sianne, Nice Kroozer, I haven't played with pushies since my BMX Racing days back in the good ol' 80's. We do still have a BMX Boxing Day Bash every year at Anzac park at Toowong. 27"wheels should be fairly easy to come by. I have a mate with a collection of bikes from the '30's thru '90's maybe he has some , I will ask. By the way, We used to build Choppers when I was a kid, We'd cut 28" forks off at the top and graft them over the 20"forks and run 28"wheel on the front and 20"wheel on the back, Make sissy bars out of old towel racks and Ape Hangers out off 1"tubing that we'd scavange from the dump. For Low riders we'd get old workman signs and cut them to the shape of the mudguards and make spats pop rivetted to the mudguard, Drop the Banana seat down to the top of the seatpole clamp, cut down sissy bar and modified tourer handle bars add some 24" forks and wheel on the front 20"on the back, OH!! can't forget the playing cards held in the front wheel with one of Mums pegs(I'm sure she still doesn't Know) to get that purring sound of my brothers Ducati's (never sounded that good though)
Need anything give us a PM and we'll see what we can find to finish that project!!
Cheers The Zed......................

Re: I own a custom! ... Lowrider :)
Wow Dan, very nice.
At the moment, I'm working to get all the fine spots of rust off around the spokes.
It's just surface stuff but I want to do it by hand.
I want to take her matt black & chrome. Nice & simple & clean.
I have a girlie bike that I'll doll up a bit.. a lot more work required there though!

Heres one we put together. The rear and handle bars are from an old bmx,
the front fork and wheel is from a kids bike, the front bar is a piece of water pipe
and the center bar is from a street sign that happened to disappear from tweed one night .
Its been faithfull on many occasions for the intoxicated ride home.

Re: I own a custom! ... Lowrider :)
my bf makes lowriders (shippou's kustoms hehe). he made me a bike for xmas but he still hasn't finished it grrr (the point of me having a bike was so i could ride to work but i don't even work there anymore). its a pretty basic dragstar style, we decided to keep it simple until i got used to riding it (haven't rode a bike since i was 12 haha), then we'll start on the customizing. it's pink, purple with a polka dot seat >.< !!
he had some of his bikes for sale in a store but once he heard people were riding them around drunk, sitting on them and doing skids in the store he took them out. and now two of them are damaged which is a pain. anyway here are some pics -
he goes through phases where he wants to sell them, then wants to keep them because of the time and effort he's put into the bikes but if anyone wants to make a reasonable offer i'm sure he'll consider.
