Rod Stock and Custom Classic Car Show
(churned) THE roar of Australia’s best hot rods will shake the Prince of Wales Showgrounds this weekend for the annual Rod Stock and Custom Classic Car Show. Now in its second year, the show brings together more than 300 of the best pre-1975 rod, custom and classic motor vehicles.
Kangaroo Flat resident Ross Mayes was named last year’s overall hot rod winner for his custom 1932 Ford “Burnt 1” hot rod, which he hopes will again secure him a trophy.
“It’s the car I dreamt of owning,” Mr Mayes, who built his hot rod for about $100,000, said.
From everyday street-driven hot rods, to high profile show vehicles such as a twin supercharged Silver Bullet Mustang, the event is a guaranteed head turner.
City of Greater Bendigo tourism manager Kathryn Mackenzie welcomed the event and said Bendigo was becoming home to many classic car shows.
“People take great pride in their vehicles, and both locals and visitors enjoy the atmosphere that these events bring to the city,” she said.
The show will include separate bitumen driving areas to cater for several events.
The indoor show ’n’ shine component will be held in the nearby Bendigo Exhibition Centre, with both show-
judged and street-judged sections within the trophy categories.
Attendees can enjoy a dinner dance featuring a two-course meal and entertainment by band Ignition on Saturday night.
There will be free camping available for entrants and a free pancake breakfast for entrants on Sunday morning. (end of churn)
