Does anyone else out there dream the retro dream?

I have a house full of retro furniture, just got myself a 50's fridge now looking for the retro house..

I dream of wearing 50's dresses and hairstyles everyday and spending time in the kitchen making beautifully iced cakes for afternoon tea and having a lovely sweet husband that takes me out of a weekend to dance all night

The perfect date for me would be to go out for a chocolate milkshake and then an afternoon of ten pin bowling.. ah so uncomplicated..

Every Wednesday I comb in a bit of Brylcreem, put on one of my favourite shirts and throw my sax in the car. Then it's off for a couple of hours of Big Band goodness watching those crazy swing kids throw each other around the floor while we blast out a bit of Basie or Ellington or Miller or Dorsey or Savitt....

If only I could do it every day. Put me down for one of those cakes Smile

Sounds great! Love a bit of Sax Wink

Got a gorgeous cake stand today so I'll be practicing my icings and sweet toppings in the coming weeks, the NT might be a bit far to come for afternoon tea however..

I wonder how many people that say there living it how it was, drive a modern car or get on twitter. I call em wanna-billies. Like if ya living it like it was, then like a vegan you avoid it all.

Been doing it for 20yrs and quite frankly its become a lil tiresome these days trying to keep up the fulltime act. Its easy to feel a lil left behind with all of that amazing technologie available. One day i might even buy a mobile phone
Even been looking at the mooneyes electronic injected stromberg carbs lately for the full tilt straight 6 in my sled. How sad is that, but it'll hammer along with snappier throttle responce. But then hmm?, i'll have to put the flamethrowers on my 56 ute. yeah that could happen.

I work all day in a law firm hiding behind boring modern black work clothes (people don't take female lawyers-in-training seriously is we wear swing skirts and have our hair done in victory rolls).

My free time is the time I get to live my retro dream - rockabilly music, singing, dancing, bold and curvaceous clothes! I wish I could do it all the time!

Live it love it, Its not the 50's but i love the rockabilly i slick my hair back everyday and try and retro out my work uniform as much as possible, Which to be honest is pretty easy. Trading in my cargo pants and shirt for overalls and an undershirt in winter where my pistol cap and keep my hair greasy :-D If i could buy a 50's/60's car that was as little fuss as my modern runabout and still have the money for my Pickup Project you know I'd buy it quick sticks

For me it's all about injecting vintage goodness into my modern life. So we've got mid-century modern dining table seats and cabinets, but new lounges and a flat screen tv, and pinstriped panels from American artists I met on a pinstriping forum. I've got a modern daily driver and a couple of classics in the shed. I love swing, rockabillyand blues music but I crank it up on my ipod or while chatting to mates on facebook. That probably makes me a 'wanna-billy' to some but I dont really care.

Do what you want and enjoy it!

Very jealous of your 50's kitchen Mudflap!

I am currently on the hunt for a house and hoping to find one with an original 50's kitchen and bathroom- it's all about the kitchen!
Need something to do my gorgeous Crosley fridge justice Smile

What a pack of wannabe's this lot were living the lifestyle yet no-one has posted since 2012. If they were that fair dinkum they'd still be living it.
Aah the flavour of the moment fad, enjoyed by many and surely to be remembered by almost none of them.
