New XM Wagon
Picked up an XM wagon on the weekend, pretty rough round the edges but 95% rust free. Plans are spats, whitewalls, venetians, paint, mexi blankets and a few other mild custom touches I have in mind. I have wanted one of these for ages and have been looking for a new daily driver so I'm stoked. Pic is in the old owners driveway.
Re: New XM Wagon
Verry cool, love the pin-striping. Nothing beats an old wagon.

Re: New XM Wagon
the photo makes it look better than it is! It has a bit too much pin striping on the front guards and around the tail lights. Worst of all it has a 2 foot long spark plug painted on the side! All will be sorted out very shortly though!!
Re: New XM Wagon
Yeah, i like the pin-striping on the bonnet too,got any photos of the spark plug?

Re: New XM Wagon
Wagons are great custom classic projects , plus the added bonus is you have somewhere to crash out at the end of a party.

Re: New XM Wagon
Your right the spark plug should go!, neat looking wagon though, nice thick flake on the roof might look ok.

Re: New XM Wagon
yeah I'm thinking maybe a flaked roof, keep the matt black, narrow whites steelies etc. Needs an altitude adjustment pretty bad too
Re: New XM Wagon
Nothing like a longroof with board racks, we have a fully customised Fc wagon which may end up with board racks as my old scene was surf & speed sailboarding.

Re: New XM Wagon
Yeah I had one just like that on my old FB! I am thinking one of those or possibly one off a US wagon from the early 60's.
Re: New XM Wagon
I had one on my wagon but decided to take it off. I think I still have it if anyone wants it. To me it seems to be more 70's-80's which is why I left it off. I will try to get more pics.

Re: New XM Wagon
Busy indeed Hep! Good to see those unsightly spark plugs GONE! Wagon looks great, wish I had of snapped one up when I had the chance!!!
Re: New XM Wagon
thanks for the encouragement guys. She's along way from finished - body needs more massaging and the seals are of course gone! But I'm glad I picked it up, dont see many around and I always loved the xm wagons. Its in primer at the moment and when I finish straightening up the body, I'll pull out all the seals and hit it with a colour. Although I gotta say the matt grey of the primer makes it look pretty cool. Picked up a cool visor for it today off an xp, no rust and straight as an arrow - has the cool peak in the middle too! Heading to chopped show this weekend in the wagon - if your going keep an eye out for it.
Once thats done its on to the truck, I have been amassing parts for that in the last month and i want to get started pretty soon.

Re: New XM Wagon
Looks very cool in primer! I was tempted to keep mine grey and somethimes i still wish i had. (never happy).
The "Chopped" show is on my list of things to do, maybe next year i'll get down there. Keep up the good work.

Re: New XM Wagon
I have changed my mind about it 100 times as well! Same as my truck, its in primer too and I'm damned if I can make a decision on colour for it either!
Re: New XM Wagon
it looks really cool in Blacktown Racing Grey
, I would leave it as is, perhaps a coat of clear so the primer doesnt soak up the water
