Hi
Hey, stumbled across this forum while looking for examples of dodge kingsways that had been made into mild kustoms! Random I know. Anyways never found any but thought I'd join up anyways. My current love is a 55 1st series chev pickup - I rescued her from the states where she was slowly being turned into a lowrider.Plans at this stage include an altitude adjustment and new paint and interior Hope you all like her!
Re: Hi
Hey mate welcome to the forums. Pics aren't working for me but it sure does sound cool. I also like dodge kingsways but can't recall seeing one kustomized I imagine they would make a fine starting point.

Re: Hi
hmm - see if this one works! Think that other one is hosted on the H.A.M.B and wont link. Thanks for the welcome! Yeah was thinking a kingsway might make an interesting Kustom - does anyone know if they have a solid front axle or what the stock suspension setup is?
Re: Hi

Re: Hi
thanks hewey! Just gotta get her on the road - the dreaded full rego, when you have a modified 50's car! lots of fun!
On a side note been gathering some cool bits and pieces for her lately! Scored a pretty nice set of sombrero caps off a 55 pontiac and some finned edelbrock valve covers showed up in the mail today!

Re: Hi
An advantage with 56 dodges is there low front screen, it looks already chopped and can be used to your advantage when doing a sensible height chop, sure radical chops look cool but there not overly great, when trying to view stoplights etc etc.
We chopped a 56 Dodge about 3yrs ago, luckily i'd done one previously so it came out a treat, but the distinct advantage was not chopping the front screen, the owner had a chopped P.U. already and had, had it radically chopped but he said viewing stoplights etc had been a pain in the arse, untill we had dropped his seat height.
This time around he wanted a slight chop 2-3"s and as we dropped the roof on his sedan we let (cut) the stock screen up into the header panel above, whilst leaning the a'pillars back only a few degree's so the screen wouldn't dominate the chop.
Basicly you mark out your intended chop on all the posts (i fab my own C-pillars) and on the front posts i mark a cut line around the windscreen so that area will be cut free without removing the (covered) screen , then you chop the top and as the roof comes down and you align the A-pillars leaning em back slightly . The stock screen then slides up into that thick roofline at the forward edge of the roof, trimming as you go. What you end up with is is a nice chop 2-3inches on the side and a screen that looks chopped but is a lil bigger than your average chopped gunslit , so this way every roof aspect flows along as it should.
