The third one had a tree fall on it. So we'll probably make two cars from the three.

Any progress on your Poncho's Miss Whitton? I've been told by Mick Lewis (leweydafly on here) that a holden HZ one tonner chassis is pretty much the same size, so you could get disc brakes and either 6 or v8 (would make parts heaps easier to locate!). Mick and I are sussing it out further, Qld regulations may mean I wont be able to do a body swap onto the HZ chassis (Mick's in Victoria), but if it helps you guys out, I'm more than willing to keep sharing the information if you're interested!
Cheers

Be sure if you do the holden chassis swap that your track width doesn't alter, luckily my 52 mopar sled will only run 5.20 premium sports rag tyres but had i really thought out this swap i would have just kept my mopar chassis with its super narrow track width , done a ply/do disc swap etc and been able to run reversed astro supreme 5 spokes instead of HQ steelies and pinner whites.
I used the firewall and half of the HQ ute floorpan in mine but be sure to measure, measure and measure again before cutting or welding it in, also use 2 or more people with tape measures handy to avoid costly (in time) mistakes.
I used the old TEX Smith HOW TO CUSTOMISE CARS from the 90's for inspiration, Dick Dean did the swap on a merc using a 70's GM chassis..
The third one customised by that tree could be ideal to be built into a sectioned 2dr convert, longtime kustom guys will remember a neat very low bare metal kustom 49-52 chevy roadster a few years back in the U.S. that used a similar year buick hood for a decklid / boat tail.

Re: 51 pontiacs (we do have three but only found these pics) and the daily
Thats some good points there Harry...
Mick and I have sussed it out a little further, it's legal in Qld to do a body swap, but the whole car must obviously meet ADR and rego regulations for the year of chassis manufacture, and/ or a 'cut down' version of the 2010 ADRs (such as safety glass, inertia reel seatbelts, high back seats [yuk!], padded dash pad [yuk again!] etc).
The track and wheelbase of a HZ (possibly even HQ) is almost exactly the same as a 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak. I've taken measurements off my original chassis and Mick is measuring his HZ tonner for me to compare to, but it's looking like a goer.
I think for me to convert the original chassis and then upgrade the front end and do a disc brake conversion would be pretty costly, so getting my hands on a HZ tonner and just swapping the body means most likely earlier cruise time for the Poncho!
