Re: Pomade...What ya using?
Well its been two weeks since Ive started using High Life and ive got to say, im stoked, seriously its by far the best stuff ive used! Even with my hair still fairly short as far as a good workable pomp goes, it gets it into place no probs, got me a great 40's style and the best part, no greasy pillow!! I dont know how but it stays on the hair! Ive used them all over the years but High Life is a keeper. It holds great but it doest end up all over your face through the night like ive found others do and you dont really need much..

Re: Pomade...What ya using?
Might have to give high life a trial! I'm using "kustom greaser pomade" and Dax pomade. Both are great but can be a nightmare on a hot day, when it starts running down your forehead!

Re: Pomade...What ya using?
i use the same traditional barber as Harry Palms for my cuts, honestly its almost short back and sides for me cause of those dreadfull curls but old mate cuts it in such a way i rarely need gel or pomade stuff in it.
Being a grease monkey myself i agree with harry that grease and grubby hands make for a perfect hold for my hair particulary since you'll catch me wrentching on my rides rather than sitting spazzed out watching telly at night.

Mate where do you get your black and white from? i ant some!
Anyhoo, Ive been a murrays user through and through since i started as my hairs crazy thick and when it gets long its damn near impossible to get anything to hold it.
I have however found a solution to getting the murrays out. I use LOADS of it and this still works for me.BEFORE you shower, take some dishwashing lqiuid and run it through your hair, lathering up as you would with shampoo. Leave sit for a few minutes then wash out. Then have your shower and wash with the normal shampoo and conditioner as you would and i found it takes out almost all of it.
I also use a finetooth comb in the shower and run it flat along my hair against the grain and it literally scarpes the murrays out of your hair.
Im going to have a go at a new one ive found called Cockgrease, and anothr by american greaser which will be their 90w. the strongest hold hey make to see if it can keep my thick hair up.
Ill post my results.
Cheers

Re: Pomade...What ya using?
Scratchbuilt do you have trouble with your curls when your pomp starts to get higher? (longer hair) i've got think hair then it goes curly once its about 3 or 4inches long. So far I have found that the hawleywood's layrite super hold works really well but we'll see once my hair gets longer, Anyone know of a cheaper alterative i can use for everyday at work the hold isn't as important its just gotta stop it turning in to a fuzzy mess with my short back and sides.

Re: Pomade...What ya using?
Ya only need a lil grease. Keep it short on the sides , mines about 3"s long up top and shorter at the back , with a curl we have the more desirable hair for styling. We can train our hair to sit right with persistance.
The last week or so i've been spraying a lot of air dry enamel at work on truck chassis's, talk about a super hold on the hair with all of the wind swept overspray. A quick comb in the morning and its good to go, even driving ta work, windows down in my custom kemp (sled) barely affects it.

Re: Pomade...What ya using?
if you dont like bearing grease and want something a bit lighter and cheaper for everyday use, just try the styling clay from Aldi, the one with the strongest hold, its not as good as murrays but it works good for the price and smells like real clay from the ground.

Re: Pomade...What ya using?
bit of trolling the scratch! yeah almost through 2 tubs of american grease 90W since last post so. Pros: It stays in and builds up so what ever you style it stays. Cons: It won't wash out easily and it get the best style you have to use a hair dryer.... and i thought combing was too much effort!

Re: Pomade...What ya using?
i don't use any pomade, i've been combing my hair back in this style for so long a lil wax is all i need to keep it in place. Short on the sides and a lil longer on top.
The key for me is to use a old style barber, hairdressers are on a time limit whereas Sharpie takes his time and like a kustom car builder he stands back and checks out the flow as the trim job progresses.
I've never left his shop feeling like he'd let me down. But the more you comb it the more you'll train ya hair to follow the style.
