Finding the right rockabilly..........
Sorry for posting this up here ladies, but Im curious..........
I want to know where to find the elusive rockabilly mumma besides the usual gig's and shows
where else would a fella keep his eye out for a woman with said style and the odd tattoo?

Re: Finding the right rockabilly..........
Dont you dare make a personals section!!
Its a bit sad that you would have to, not that hard to meet people.
Cheers
Mick

Re: Finding the right rockabilly..........
Yeah I think a personals section is a bit weird.. I dont think many people would want to post a thread like that because it just points them out as being single.. Rockabilly gals can be anywhere, of course gigs and hot rod shows would be the best 'source'.. I reckon the best place to find a girl would be at the places YOU like going.. because if you're there and she's there well at least you know you're both interested in the same things.
Re: Finding the right rockabilly..........
I say, Let the personals stay with RSVP, FACEBOOK, MYSPACE, ADULTMATCHMAKER ETC. we don't need it. we have plenty posted up in events to go and find ya honey sweet. I know DNA is in sydney and would find it alot more challanging than in say Brisvegas or Sunny Coast. There is a big following down south and Kulture doesn't always find everyone at like minded events. DNA, You need to get into there heads and find out where the best places are, Cooking school, Vege section at supermarket, Dance classes, Roller derby or as Kid said, At your local hangout cause ya don't want a girl who doesn't go to the same places as you do.

Re: Finding the right rockabilly..........
Haha doesn't matter now anyway, Kats already posted a personal section
I don't see people using it as it's not very private.. as in we'll all be able to read that thread, even if we're not using it.. but hey, some people have no shame so they'll probably use it..
I like long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners...

Re: Finding the right rockabilly..........
Kat, You can never keep everyone happy. I just think that if ya single ya look at the singles sites cause thats why they're there. I'm here cause I ike what we have to say about life, Kulture, Cars , Music you know what I mean. We don't need those preditors invading our space.

Re: Finding the right rockabilly..........
Really depends what your after DNA!
a 'rockabilly' girl that looks good hanging off your arm are a dime a dozen at the rod shows etc but 90% of the time they'll be there cause 'rockabilly' is a cool little box to put yourself into.
If you want a better chance of getting some substance behind the looks, there are some awesome chicks on the ozrodders forum and similar sites.
Search rockabilly or hot rod or tatts or something on forums like facebook, myspace etc, heaps of cuties, at least you've got somewhere interest based to start

I'm not fussed one way or the other on a topic line I'm under the I mean in a comitted relationship / married but I can see a reason for having it, hay why not.
but ebs I must be noticing the worng people on ozrodders there a great bunch of guys n girls but not to many awesome chicks that are available (I'm not taking that much notice of that sied of things there I must admit)

Re: Finding the right rockabilly..........
Well Im from Sydney too, met my girl on a US based tiki forum of all places! Of course she lives in Brisbane, which isnt real convenient, but the right girl is more than worth the effort! (cheap flights and talking on msn help too ). Plus its a great excuse to get up for Wintersun!
The whole retro/rockabilly thing seems a lot smaller/hidden than what I see up in Queensland and Victoria, which doesnt help. We've got what, the 50s fair and rat day? Compared to events like wintersun, greazefest, garter belts etc up north and kustom nats, the picnic etc down south, all of which are pretty big.
Yeh, I dont think a personals section would be that good on here. Dating websites can be pretty good. A freind of mine in Adelaide joined one, within 2 weeks she was asked on 3 dates by different guys! And she's an uber geek (read travels interstate to go to sci conventions! ). Seems to be working for her though.
As much as everyone says gigs and shows are good, I can understand why these would be hard to pick up at! Hell, Ive never been a guy who can just go up to a girl at a bar/gig/show/whatever and start talking to her, Im way too shy and introverted around people I dont know. Something where you get that interaction and conversation started would be good, like rockabilly dance classes or something similar.

Re: Finding the right rockabilly..........
I agree with Hewey - the Sydney scene is very small and incestuous - in fact a whole bunch of my girlfriends ended up moving to Melbourne because that's where they found their partners!
Quite honestly DNA, there seem to be a whole lot more single Sydney gals than single guys in my circle!
Hmmmm... maybe I can fix you up with one of them........????

This is an interesting topic..
I am a single lass myself and gave up on dating sites due to the lack of 'rockabilly/rocker' guys on there. I know what I want in a guy and they just don't have em
As for meeting people out and about I have been on the scene for many years and still no-one, well no one young enough- go figure
I agree that a forum might not be the best way to meet people though, I don't think I would like to write out my likes/dislikes in a forum as kid said is isn't very private
Best of luck to you DNA, maybe you will have found her by now, this topic is a bit old..
