Re: VaVoom Fest 2011
An epic opportunity to capitalize on an event in a city crying out for a Kustom Kulture and Rockabilly event, was squandered due to poor promotion and advertising.
We checked their website on Saturday morning and most of the pages still said info "coming real soon"!!!
There was also supposed to be a pinstripers alley, and we items to be striped, only to arrive and find no pinstripers anywhere and no one to ask for info.
As for vavoomfest itself, the event consisted of about 10 stalls, mainly selling similar clothes, about 15 cars, and the stage, stuck ima corner, where the bands played to an empty dancefloor.
Most people I spoke to in the lead up to the event had no idea vavoomfest was even on, yet most were aware that the tatoo expo was on.

I do agree about the promotion side of things .. I only found out about it through another photographer ..
Some people didnt' even show up with their stalls apparently ... The body art expo was packed. . could hardly walk through.
but yes vavoom was a bit empty i need to meet more kustom people in sydney :S
Re: VaVoom Fest 2011
Likewise I've heard nothing particularly positive about vavoomfest. The best suggestion I've heard is to roll it into being part of the tattoo expo but I dont know if this is a viable option. Pity, because on paper the whole idea had so much potential, particularly when run in conjunction with an event like the tattoo show
The Sydney Rock and Roll and Alternative Markets are a great event with a kustom kulture focus and its monthly. Seems to be the same stalls each time, so I only go over sporadically, but it really shows how much demand/interest there is in Sydney for decent kustom kulture events.

On the 26-27 March there are some great events coming up you might be interested in. Theres Day of The Drags at western Sydney dragstrip, there'll be a car show, pin up comp, bands etc. Knowing the guys who are putting this on it will be fantastic.

The other event is Kurri Kurri nostalgia festival. Bit more of a drive, but should be awesome!

Liana and I will be doing day of the drags on Saturday and Kurri Kurri on Sunday = awesome weekend

Re: VaVoom Fest 2011
It was a disappointment that's for sure. I expected to spend the whole afternoon there but was done after about 20 minutes. The tattoo expo was pretty good though so that made up for it....sort of....
Autumnfest is also on this weekend -

I'd love to go, even just to see The Go-Go Haunters again, but it's my best mates wedding on Saturday....so much on in the one weekend!!
