Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede

Buddy Holly is Alive and Well on Ganymede looks set to be my kind of movie. Based on a comic book of the same name, the plot sees sattelite engineer Oliver Vale, whose late mother was a big Buddy Holly fan, settling down to watch a John Wayne film on TV when the transmission is interrupted by Buddy Holly. Amazingly, Buddy is standing in an air bubble on Ganymede, one of Jupiter's moons. He's holding a guitar. There's a sign that Buddy reads aloud and it says, "For assistance, contact Oliver Vale."

"That's weird," thinks Oliver, so he sets off for Lubbock in Texas to find out what's what. On the way, Oliver meets up with all kinds of people - evangelicals, aliens, G-men and the local law. To find out how he deals with these and how he discovers what really happened in 1959, you'll have to watch the movie to see - no spoilers here!

The movie stars the magnificent Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and looks set to be the surprise indie hit of 2011.
