Hi Friends,
I am writing to say that last sunday was 55 years ago when Elvis Presley recorded his first single for sun records called That's Alright Mama. the song was a cover version of a song that Big Boy Arthur Curdup did in 1947 and it was on July 5th-6th 1954 that Elvis, guitarist Scotty Moore and double bassist Bill Black who both had played in the starlite wranglers recorded the song which the other 3 songs that was recorded that day were Blue Moon Of Kentucky, Harbor Lights and i Love You because. the song was first played on July 8th 1954 on memphis radio by local DJ dewey Phillips who had a show called red hot and blue show and the 19th it was released which sun had recieved 6,000 orders for the song and it was a hit in the south. it was the first of the 5 singles taht eLVIS RECORDED FOR SUN until 1955 when he signed up with RCA and by 1956 he was to become The King OF rock'n'roll with many hits he would have until the 70's. actually 5 sun recordings was on elvis' very first RCA album ELvis Presley in 1956 and they were Little Darlin(i'll never let you go), I love you because, blue moon, trying to get to you and just because.
Keep on Rocking everyone
