GARTER BELTS AND GASOLINE 2009 COMPLAINTS
Well well, it seems we have a great deal of negatives regarding the show, in a perfect world where manners and honesty ruled you would all have the fortitude to contact me directly and not hide behind a screen name and hurl your comments around the web as you do..
anyway here a few facts and figures on garter belts and gasoline 2009 including your quotes
GORILLA BISCUIT.. nice handle i prefer to use the name my parents gave me just like the old days (paul)
bands..you claim that i have provided the same line up 3 years in a row, that's pretty interesting cosidering that the show has only been run twice !!!
As for the line up i dont recall writing the chq out to pay the fuelers, or chrome daddies or pat capocci or danny and the cosmic tremors or sizzle and burn last year or ever for that fact, the reason for the other bands returning was demand from the punters. Speaking of bands and cost's perhaps you could try and book and interstate band and see what kind of cost this will incur you ? re ticket pricing...
$5 parking and charity ? not sure if you read the signs out the front gorilla biscuit but the $5 charge went to BRAVEHEARTS INC the childrens charity against sexual abuse !!!
100% of the funds infact, Why did i charge $5 you ask ? because i had to rent the car park from the council to allow the genral public somewhere to park instaed of the pub ground because so many of you complained last year about not enough room for entrants !!! again paul trying to give the punters what they asked for.
Food and drinks.. yes i agree they were overpriced and not good enough quality.
this will be fixed or the show will not continue(have you ever tried to cater for more people than a back yard bbq?)
security, if a guard spoke to a punter like this and i knew about it he would have been sacked on the spot, unfortunatley i cant be everywhere at once, the reason security even has to be used is because 53 of you kind folk on saturday night(53) were sprung trying to get in for free. 53 @ $25 per head is $1325
being stolen from me .The fact is that the licencing commision puts a min amount of guards in place per punter when drinks are being served , would you come to a gig if you can't have a beer ?
profit machine, you say i am using the hot rod rockabilly scene as a profit machine
well heres your chance gorilla biscuit an all the rest who think the same. on behalf of myself and any other event organiser of this kind of event in seq. i invite you to my home in the future and to sit whith me in my office and i will allow you FULL ACCESS
to all books from the past shows and i will show you the income and then expenses and then ask you to look me in the eye and tell me i made a profit.
my email address is paul@moonshinetraders.com.au send me an email and we can make the arrangements. profit !!! i wish
KAT.. you made a comment re old cars going up the mountain? i know it's been a long time since i was in school and studied geography but tamborine village is at THE BOTTOM of tamborine mt, if you drove over the top as i do in my 1955 olds on a regular basis with no drama then pehaps we need to ditch the computer for a while and look at the good ol road map and we will discover lots of ways around the mountain
EMILY.. tamborine trolleys was running a service
BARRY JACKPOT... LOCATION "THE BACKWOODS" and you call me a co*&head ?
once again if you think i am greedy and cashed up be a man and have the balls
to come look at the books, the invite stands to you also
SEAN.. re co=k jockeys in the last five years i am 40 and have followed this lifestyle
all my life(the word scene omiited) how about you ?
DREA.. matt did work all day yes and did a great job and was thanked accordingly,
did i mention the fact he was paid CASH IN THE HAND ?
IN SUMMING UP..
i am not sure if the show will be held at the dragon again i have taken all points
on board re food and drink prices and quality, and i agree with you all,
perhaps instead of hiding behind a screen you could email me some suggestions for a new location, perhaps you guys could have a go at 6 months of negotiation to set up a venue ?
as far as you "experts" on the income side of it goes the offer of open books still stands. i am doing this not only for me but for barry mcnamarra and lorri lee cash
because after two shows i take my hat off to them. you poeple really do have NO IDEA
how much work and cost goes into these shows....

Re: GARTER BELTS AND GASOLINE 2009 COMPLAINTS
hi Paul,
i myself and i'm sure everyone else who came along to Garterbelts and Gasoline this year appreciates the time and effort that went into organising the event. it showed how much work was put into the organisation etc. and the advertising you guys did was well done too, i saw posters for the event everywhere - even at my local mini mall/shopping centre.
i didn't get a chance to read all the replies that were made before the post got deleted however i'm sure most people meant well. the event is only in it's second year so of course there's always room for improvement. it can only get better from here.
the comment i made about transport - i think more people would of come if the venue was easier to access. for example, Greazefest is close to the city and accessible by bus and ferry. however Tamborine is such a beautiful place and the location helps seperates Garterbelts to other events. Maybe having more information about the tamborine trolleys would help that? my friends only found out about the trolleys at the last minute, but then again maybe they weren't looking very hard lol.
i know adam and i still had a fun time, i was so tired after saturday night though woah.

Oh, Sorry Mr MOONSHINE TRADERS, your parents named you MOONSHINE TRADERS did they? I wrote my origional post in a constructive truthfull manner representing the opinions of many people NOT just myself. Learn to take constructive criticism better. I actually made a mistake, you have hosted 2 garterbelts & gasoline gigs, & 1 Shake the shack. equaling 3 booring as bat shit gigs hosted by you at that venue.
AS I said in my original post that was delleted because you had a big sook about it, I said you had very similar HEADLINING bands on the saturday nights as the main event, I wasn't talking about the daytime shows. Chrome daddies, Warren Ealrs band & Dogues band are pretty much the same band anyway.
I can tell you this but. You run the event to promote YOUR business & exclusively sell YOUR products, i.e perfect placement of your stall directly infront of the stage. Making restrictions to who can sell what at the event.
What sort of people do you aim to cater for with your shop? Rockabilly/hotrod enthusiasts? Or tourists & members of the public you saw a dude driving a cool hotrod. You can only fit so many generic black hotrod T-shirts & polka dot dresses in one place. Let me ask you this, Would you put on an event if it meant NO ONE was allowed to sell stuff? It is about the money, don’t say that it isn’t
Nice way to represent your business, earn respect & attract customers, Not a good idea talking in such a way on the WORLDWIDE web, Or to people who live interstate, word of mouth travels fast. To my understanding Seans farther has been doing hotrods & been involved in the lifestyle/scene as long as you, If not longer. & to my understanding Sean is a photographer for some hotrod mags in Melbourne & could potentially help promote your business. Who cares if you’ve been hotroding longer then someone half your age.
But I can tell you now, I along with a lot of others am NOT going to support your events anymore & I am defiantly NOT going to buy anything from your store either.
Your ‘group’ of people instantly lost my repect when you rocked up to a gig at Holland park and said “stay away from the car kids” when YOU parked beside US when we were only standing around talking like we were 30minutes before your arrival.

Re: GARTER BELTS AND GASOLINE 2009 COMPLAINTS
Hang on, why are you having a go at me?
I well know that he was paid, and it was no way an attack on you guys in saying that I missed his company. I was merely relating what happened that night. Despite all the excitement going on It was too hard to stay awake after waking up at 5am that morning, especially seeing as Matt got home in the wee hours of the morning the night before and in doing so, woke me up then too.
So basically I was tired, cranky, had lost track of my group of friends so I decided to bail and have a nap. I slept for 6 hours even though there were band jams and partiers right outside my tent. For goodness sake it took a motorcycle burnout 5 metres from my head to wake me up. I think that pretty much sums up how dog tired I was.
I had a bloody good time this year. My only complaint was the bearded dragon's food.

Re: GARTER BELTS AND GASOLINE 2009 COMPLAINTS
Allow me to retort, I never called you a cockhead, I pointed out that there always seems to be a group of cockheads that are too cool for school and look down their noses at those who don't fit into their hardcore rockabilly subculture. If you are one of these people i'm more than happy to tar you with the same brush.
Point two i've lived in the hills for most of my life and have no dramas with the country so I can't really figure out what your issue is with the back woods.
As for the greedy comment, with every club or organization i've ever been involved in it eventually comes to a point where greed takes over and the fun goes out of it. It's just a generalization and if that's not what you're about more power to you.
I can't see why you're getting your nose so far out of joint because half a dozen people didn't like the event you put on and discussed it on an internet forum, you need to grow a thicker skin tiger. There are billions of people in the world and we're all not going to like the same things so if you want to improve your event take the criticism on board and make it better, if you're going to sook like a three year old it's probably time to give it away.
Last but not least giving Kat a serve for commenting that the journey over the mountain might not be ideal for the older cars is pathetic. She promotes your store and your event tirelessly on her forum and that is the thanks she gets, you sir personify what a cockhead is all about.

how i wound up here????? stumbled upon viva las vegas pics in a hot rod mag at a tyre store last year and thought the whole scene was boss. Look at me, man: now I DRIVE the school bus! hahaha
For someone who speaks to their patrons in such a manner, I dont think i need to prove shit to you.
Re: GARTER BELTS AND GASOLINE 2009 COMPLAINTS
looking at all this from another POV. all the people that have commented here obviously care enough to voice an opinion.
If no one cared about the event, if no one gave a shit about what whent on or wernt interested in going to another, No one would of bothered giving an opinion on it.
A patrons opinion be it good or bad should be taken on board.
Not to heart.
Paul. u were talking about people hiding behind there computers and puting u and the event down. When all i saw was a group of people. Your patrons. On a forum voicing there opinion on an event.
Mate if u had been a little more diplomatic in your approach and simply appologised for not being able to please everyone and asked for anyone with constuctive criticism and productive ideas to contact u with suggestions most of this could of been avoided. And u would of looked like an events organiser that actually cared and was taking an active approach toward improving the event for as many people as possible.
They say with age comes wisdom, so u would think from sum one with your experience u would be a little better at dealing with criticism.
And back to that hiding behind a screen. These people on here are friends of mine. And had u spoke to them in person like u had on here. Id a dropped u on your ass like a sack of spuds mate.
Thats my 2 cents

Re: GARTER BELTS AND GASOLINE 2009 COMPLAINTS
I'm not taking sides here, but heres some things i noticed.
Never been to GB&G, will eventually.
Gorilla Biscuit, you say his events are "Boring as Bat Shit". Want to host your own then? Maybe you should top his effort if you think you can do such a damn fine job.
I can't believe by the sounds of it most of you are winging over a $5 parking fee. Fuck me, i spend more than that on frozen cokes on a Saturday night. If you can afford the fuel to get to the event, and the money to build the car to drive there.. then surely you can afford a measely $5 to park there.
Ever parked in Southbank before? That shits $15 for four hours, you get to park all day and night by the sounds of it for 1/3 of that.
Anyway thats it for now, continue arguing and such.

Go back & read what I wrote. you completely missed the point. I never said $5 was too much OR said I could do such a damn fine job.
Yes, i've parked in southbank before & no, i'm not going to host an event,
I couldn't even give a shit if you spent a thousand bucks on hookers a night.
Unless you read my origional post before it was removed & have the facts 100% correct.
Eat my nuts & GTFO.

Re: GARTER BELTS AND GASOLINE 2009 COMPLAINTS
This is the one thing most people hate about the 'scene' no matter where you go what your doing there's always copious amounts of b**ching and carrying on.
Events are great to go to no matter what they are you can there is always something of interest to someone, and although always nice to compare, but each always is its own.
I'm at events almost every weekend, from both sides of the event. I run or sponsor and attend with a car or two.
Perfect example being one I ran last year. $10 entry 100% to charity, wicked trophies, prizes, band, kids entertainment, perfect location very cruisy day. Yet you've got clubs that wont attend because $10 is wayyyyy to much to pay when you've put "so much money and time and effort into the car" or you've got mister $80,000 plastic street rod who parks in the spectators car park because he's too tight to pay the entry.
God, the 2 most spoken about shows we've got here in VIC go straight into the blokes pocket, that's his wage for the year! but yet its always packed year after year.
Can never please everyone and I wouldn't stress about trying.
Grr and the whole 'i've been in the scene longer than you thing' drives me absolutely nuts! What makes you better than joe bob down the road who has poured the last 25 years into making his datto as perfect as it was when it was new? Should never be a competition, you all share a common interest
I'm on my own fence here, I used to enjoy the forum.
I sold vintage clothes & acc's for many years its fun seeing the girls with their pics and stuff and well of course the boys and the toys, but geez enough already.
Events are great to go to no matter what they are you can there is always something of interest to someone, and although always nice to compare, but each always is its own.
I'm at events almost every weekend, from both sides of the event. I run or sponsor and attend with a car or two.

Anyway thats it for now, continue arguing and such.
hey bro b4 u start wah wah wah-ing how bout doin an intro???? dikhed

Re: GARTER BELTS AND GASOLINE 2009 COMPLAINTS
Randy.. *Rolls eyes*..
Grow up.
Edit: I don't think your admin would approve of that Randy, doesn't give a very good indication of the quality of the forum if a new member like myself has to be subjected to being called a "dikhed" after a first post.
Theres other Hot Rod forums out there myself, and other new members could go to if thats what they are gona put up with when they join up here.
But then again, looks like your 16 from what under your screen name says. Guess you haven't learnt maturity, respect for your elders and correct spelling and grammar.

You need to gain some respect for your elders, and some maturity too. Your only 16, you seem to be the resident young smartass punk here, i guess i better stay out of your way
